Dr. Gretchen Lentz became a board certified urogynecologist with the first subspecialty exam in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in 2013. She trained at the University of Washington in Seattle for medical school and OB/GYN residency and did her fellowship in Urogyecology in London, England. She returned to the University of Washington in 1992 and is a Professor Emeritus in the Dept. of OB/GYN and Adjunct Professor in Urology. She retired from clinical practice in 2022 and retired from being Division Director of Urogynecology. She is author of 5 textbooks, including the bestselling gynecologic textbook in the world – Comprehensive Gynecology. From 2013-2019, she wrote the Clinical Reviews for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). She started a Women’s Health Care Center at the University of Washington and in 2021, started a comprehensive Pelvic Health Center which she directed until clinical retirement. She has done research in surgical simulation training and vaginal immunology and will continue research activities. She was awarded the ACOG/CREOG National Faculty Teaching Award in 2019. She has a passion for climbing – rock, ice and big walls.
