Pema Choden Bhutia, M.D. is an obstetrician and gynecologist (OBGYN) at the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck
National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH), Thimphu, Bhutan. She is an Assistant Professor and the course
coordinator for the OBGYN residency programme at Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of
Bhutan. |

She graduated from Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital,
University of Kolkata, India and completed residency training Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology from
Siriraj Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, and Mahidol University, Thailand.

Dr. Pema has worked as a practicing doctor as well as clinical
administrator at hospitals in different regions of Bhutan. She is one of the recipients of Royal Civil
Service award (Silver Medal) from His Majesty the Fifth King of Bhutan for her dedicated service to the
Tsa-wa-Sum (the king, the country and the people).

She is a recipient of the Jon Phillip Scholarship, sponsored by
the Opportunity for Life, Inc. USA for this great privilege of observership at the Department of
Obstetrics and Gynecology, Texas Children's Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, USA.

She is grateful to the esteemed faculties and staff of Baylor College
of Medicine for their precious time and hospitality during the observership. The exposure to advanced surgical
procedures and excellent patient-centered care has been very enlightening.
